First-to-Market Technologies

Innovation of new products differentiates Lear from the competition. Our first-to-market technologies include SoyFoam™ seats in the Ford Mustang, which are up to 24% renewable compared with nonrenewable, petroleum-based foam. ProTec^® PLuS, is a self-aligning head restraint that has been shown to reduce whiplash injuries by 43%. We are also a leader in the use of lightweight materials, such as our Dynamic Environmental Comfort System™. It offers a weight reduction of up to 85% compared to current foam designs while also providing advanced seat comfort by using layered, eco-friendly materials.
